Already Now-The Peace Beyond Mindfulness

What is here is always the way it is now.

Thinking about the future and feeling heavy,

or looking back at the past with regret,

can quietly create stress in the body

and invite unnecessary difficulties.

To release unnecessary tension from the body

and allow your natural capacity to unfold,

gently return your attention

to this moment right in front of you.

(Up to this point, this is what we usually call the message of mindfulness.

And then, something more.)

How will you be with what is here now?

If there is a choice,

you are free to choose.

And yet—

even if you cannot focus on the present,

even if there is no option to focus at all,

what remains is still this present moment.

Whether you can focus or not,

whether there is a choice or not,

what is here is simply the way it is now.

Beyond the urge to control

lies a deep peace.

Now is already now.

So, you are deeply safe.

Note: Reflections from Today’s Session

Thank you all for another beautiful time together today.

The practice each of you continues in your own place

quietly carries the power to transform the world in profound ways.

Please do not forget that.

Today, we returned once again to the simple truth

that what is here is simply the way it is now.

As one person shared,

when we are swept away by thoughts,

we are carried into the past or the future

and become entangled in suffering.

Especially when we encounter events in the world,

anger and sadness can tighten the body without us noticing,

accumulating as stress.

In those moments, the usual invitation is to gently return

to the present as it is—without the filter of thought.

And yet—

what if even the choice to “return” feels difficult?

What if the mind feels too unsettled?

Then even the experience of “not being able to”

is part of the present moment.

Not being able to focus on now.

Noticing you’ve been pulled into thought again.

There is no need to judge yourself.

The restlessness, the drifting attention, the wavering—

each of these is simply your present moment unfolding.

A precious present moment,

because this is the only moment there is.

When we allow the moment to be just as it is,

we begin to touch a quiet freedom.

Beyond the presence or absence of choice,

even the sense of escape, powerlessness,

or the feeling that you cannot choose to focus

is part of this moment.

When we touch the simple fact of being here now,

a quiet inner axis naturally begins to emerge—

one that is not easily shaken by circumstances.

Setting Down the Weight of Control

Trying to make things better.

Trying to fix, change, or manage everything.

How tender and human it is

to see ourselves striving so hard.

And yet, much of this effort arises

from the judgments we quietly place on experience.

So, with a bit of courage,

we can gently loosen our grip on control.

What awaits there

is not something to be found far away,

but the peace that is already here.

Whether you can focus or not.

Whether there is a choice or not.

What is here is simply the way it is now.

So, it is okay.

Holding this quiet sense in your heart,

let us return once again

to our everyday lives.
