The "present moment" is not something that increases or decreases. It's not something that attaches to or separates from anything, nor is it something you go looking for. It simply "is." The present cannot be stored away, and this is the truth of our everyday life.
Yet, as we go about our lives, we naturally react to various things we see and hear. Thoughts arise, like "I want this," "I don't want that," or "I'd rather things be this way." We get caught up in these thoughts, trying to change the present circumstances, but in reality, the present moment cannot be altered. That is the essence of the "now."
When we are present without overlaying thoughts or emotions, everything is complete as it is. By not clinging to the past or future and instead feeling only the current moment, the past already fades away, and each new moment arrives freshly. Thoughts and emotions appear and disappear like bubbles. There is no need to be caught up in them or feel they are distractions.
When we are "seeing" the thoughts and emotions that arise, they are simply "there," and nothing more. However, we tend to add our own emotions and interpretations, creating a separation between the "self that sees" and the "object that is seen."
The present moment is a state that cannot be changed or possessed. Whether good or bad thoughts arise, they are complete in the very moment they appear. By refraining from attaching unnecessary meanings and simply allowing things to be as they are, worry and dissatisfaction naturally dissipate, and everything harmonizes.
The "now" is singular and unique, with no need to chase or push it away. Living this way allows us to encounter our true selves, experiencing a deep sense of peace and assurance.
