The Wisdom of Not Picking a Scab

Don’t pick at a scab once it has formed.
The wounds of the heart are no different
from the wounds of the body.
of healing already within you.
Do what needs to be done,
and then, entrust the rest to that power.
Leave it alone.
Let it be, just as it is.
In time, healing unfolds on its own.
Life is quietly at work beneath the scab.
As a wound begins to mend,
there may be an itch.
Yet without giving in to that urge,
let it be, just as it is.

We often forget that the same “natural healing power”
is working in our hearts.
When we try to remove pain too quickly—
by overthinking or interfering—
we may only slow the process of recovery.
What matters is this:
after doing what is necessary,
learn to trust and wait. ― Trust the process.
Even when there is an itch or an impulse,
don’t be swayed; simply let it be.
Then the heart, too, will heal in its own way.
The work of life is always moving within us—
quietly, steadily, surely.
Nurture the energy of trust,
not the energy of worry.
What wound in your life,
can you give the space
to simply trust and wait?
