Unveiling the Illusions of Suffering: Finding Truth in the Present Moment

In conclusion, suffering is evidence that you are disconnected from the present moment and caught up in illusions. When we try to escape suffering, we often attempt to cover the current pain with a new illusion. For example, we might think of something else to avoid facing a difficult reality, imagine a happy future, change our perspective through positive thinking, or recite affirmations. If these methods completely calm your mind, then that's fine. In times of distress, it's natural to grasp at anything that might bring relief. If imagining a new illusion helps you escape from your current suffering, then it’s okay to give it a try.

However, this approach does not provide a fundamental solution. It's like moving a large piece of furniture from one corner of the room to another because it's in the way. While it may seem like you’ve tidied up, nothing has actually been resolved. In fact, this unnecessary action obscures the truth and distances you from it, clouding your clarity.

When suffering arises, stay with the “now.” By being present in this very moment, you will naturally realize that suffering is an illusion and that realization will bring great healing and lightness to your heart. The truth lies in the present moment. The thoughts you are clinging to are nothing but illusions.

Instead of trying to rewrite your current experience with new thoughts or images or changing your perspective, focus on discerning the deeper truth. All there is, is the “now.” And even this present moment is constantly changing; nothing lasts forever. Even the self you perceive is nothing more than a phenomenon that appears and disappears. We sit until this becomes clear. I encourage you all to join me.
