Every day, countless events arise.
Some are expected, and others come as surprises. With them come waves of emotion, thought, relationships, and circumstances—rolling in, one after another. We cannot stop them, nor can we make them disappear.
Sonomama Practice is learning to live without resisting these waves and without being swallowed by them.
Instead, it is practicing to ride them just as they are.
Whatever comes, notice: “Ah, here comes a wave.” Receive it, and keep moving forward. The heart grows freer through this repetition, and life becomes more supple and resilient.
—What shape is your wave taking right now?

Surfing
Life is surfing.
Ride the wave.
The waves will surely come—big waves, small waves.
There is no sea without waves, and no life without them.
That is why—we surf.
Sonomama Practice is not resisting, not being swallowed, just riding the waves.
Skilled in surfing.Skilled in living.
With the sound of the waves.
